Thanks to Nexus 7, Asus may meet lofty tablet shipping goals.

Digitimes.com, which has good connections with Asus, came out with a story yesterday regarding Asus tablet shipping goals. Apparently Asus has a goal of shipping six million this year and they had only shipped 1.2 million tablets in the first half of 2012.  The story goes on to say that the sales of Nexus 7 are looking brisk and should help Asus achieve shipments of 2.5 million in the third quarter.

The story doesn’t mention the Transformer Infinty 700, however this could be a big part of Asus making their goals for the year. The initial demand has been massive but it will be interesting to see if they can sustain Infinity sales over a long period of time. Another wild card will be the Windows 8 factor and whether a feeding frenzy will happen in late October 2012. Asus showcased many different Windows 8 Transformer tablet models at Computex this year and is well positioned to do well provided there is enough consumer interest in Windows 8 tablets.

Asus could double their sales in the U.S.A. if they would come out with more 4g(LTE) to all their models that they offer. I read a lot of comments over the internet, and a great deal of them are asking for 3g,4g. and 4LTE. I wish I knew what it would take to wake up Asus!!!!
